I’ve spoken to tens of thousands of people and written many books and articles on networking, referral marketing, sales, business and success.
I’ve had many questions on these topics over the years and I have recently decided to compile the best questions and my answers to them as part of a project that I am doing with my good friend Alex Mandossian.
If you could ask me just one question about networking, referral marketing, business or success, what would your most important question be?
Post it here on this blog. I’ll be answering your questions as part of my project with Alex as well as here on this blog site.
OK, what are you waiting for? Post that question while it’s fresh in your mind.
Thanks!

Ivan,
If you had a BNI member that made less that $2,000 last year through there membership and had only 10 minutes to spend with them…. what would you tell them and why?
Thanks,
Chris

If I am a member of BNI and have been for several years, don’t you think I have really learned about all there is to learn about implementing referral systems? Why should I take programs like Certified Networker or Referrals for Life? Arn’t they just more of what you teach us in BNI?

If you were sitting next to a reasonably good member at a chapter meeting, and they were texting on their cell phone, what would you say to them about not texting (which is rude in my opinion) without sounding like a reprimand.

I believe that you can never stop learning about anything, networking included.
Do you agree Ivan ?
And if so – what was the most recent lesson you learned?

What if you find yourself enjoying networking more than your “real” job? Is there a paid networking “connecting” job?

As a BNI member I am always on the lookout for warm referrals for my fellow chapter members. I have a translation agency and the contact I have with my customers and relations are predominantly by e-mail. How would you go about increasing the amount of face-to-face meetings, which I feel would improve the bond between my clients and me AND would offer more opportunity for live conversations?

Hi Ivan,
You have referred to your initial relationship with your wife as the “full court press”, as things progressed quickly during your courtship.
My question would be: Knowing that business relationships take time, were you worried about Elizabeth’s answer to your questions regarding your first date and(then later)proposal?

We work with small business owners regularly. Many have started their business after working at large companies. How do you recommend they stay focused when they are used to a more structured environment?
