Growing your business through the power of relationships

International Passion Day

830.jpgThis week celebrates International Passion Day. With that celebration comes the release of the paperback version of The Passion Test written by good friends of mine Chris and Janet Attwood.

According to the Attwoods, “80 percent of the population is not passionate about what they do for a living!” Ouch. That’s amazing (but not surprising) to me.

I really love this book, and I highly recommend it. They have done a great job of creating a system that really allows you to hone your thoughts down to a point where you can understand and appreciate what your true passions are.

Take a look at their website and their book; you’ll be glad you did.

    Hi Ivan,

I was really surprised to see those numbers: “80 percent of the population is not passionate about what they do for a living!” I thought it was more like 40% but 80% :(

I use to be in a job that i dislike myself. But now i have found my passion: “writing and doing business online”. I love it!

Thanks to your great blog Ivan.

You have to have the PASSION! I find myself saying that a lot lately. Too many people don’t have (or don’t convey) any passion for what they do. I love people who are passionate! I look forward to checking this book out. Shawn McCarthy BNI ED Ventura County, Ca.

The issue of being passionate about what one does as his/her life’s work can not be over emphasized.
I too am surprised to know that it’s actually about 80% of people who aren’t passionate about their work; what I am excited about however, is the knowledge of knowing that although I may presently be a part of the 80%, I am well on my way to becoming a part of the 20% who are passionate about what they do.

We just can’t get way from the 80/20 rule, can we?

    It is just mind-boggling

I was very surprised to hear that the number was 80% as well. I “was” one of those 80% and knew it, and was able to transition to something that I am passionate about. I’m still with the same company, doing a very similar job, but boy what a difference the change has made. I absolutely love what I do now, I’m making more money and I no longer need medication for stress management. It took a year to complete the transition, but I truly believe I will live a longer and happier life because of it.
It took a leap of faith for me (and some rough times) to make the change, but WOW!!! what a difference. I’m hoping some of those 80% will read the Attwoods book.
